Shane Stickel is one of Ontario’s young up-and-coming stock car drivers. Racing has always been a large part of Shane’s life as he helped his father race stock cars in the Thunder Car Series all around Ontario. His father also supported many other race teams and racing clubs throughout his racing career.
Shane started racing go-karts at the age of 7. He proved to be a natural behind the wheel winning two championships in his first year of karting. Since then, Shane has experimented with other motorsports including motocross and snowmobiling.
In 2005, Shane returned to his roots of asphalt racing and claimed another two karting championships including the 2008 WRKC Sr. Heavy Championship. He has also won many other awards including the series hard charger, multiple best appearing kart awards, and was the first ever driver to become both a Jr. and Sr. Champion.
In 2010 Shane made the move to asphalt oval racing competing in the Canadian Vintage Modifieds, a open wheel stock car touring series. In 2010 Shane claimed the rookie of the year award along with best appearing and best engineered racecar. In 2011 Shane was the runner up finishing second and capturing a few wins throughout the year.
For 2011 Shane plans to win some more races and hopefully claims his first Canadian Vintage Modified title.
